Terms of Service

MyChar.Cards is operated by Michael Crawford, an individual based in the United States. These terms apply to your use of MyChar.Cards and its features. By using it, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Who may use MyChar.Cards
You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are a minor where you live, you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission. Only users 18 or older may create, import, edit, or export cards containing sexually explicit content or graphic violence. The prohibited content below is not permitted for any user, regardless of age.
The service
MyChar.Cards is a free browser-based editor for creating, editing, importing, and exporting character cards. You may use it for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these terms and the rights of others. It does not provide an AI chat service or publish your cards.
I may change, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time, for any reason. Card formats and other applications or services may change, and I cannot guarantee that every exported card will work in every application or service.
Your content and responsibilities
You retain whatever rights you have in your cards and other content. Using the editor does not transfer those rights to me. You are responsible for your content and for having the necessary rights, licenses, permissions, or other lawful basis to use material belonging to someone else. Cards are edited locally on your device; I do not review them or store them on the MyChar.Cards server.
You must not use the service to:
- Engage in unlawful activity or infringe another person's rights.
- Plagiarize someone else's work, in whole or in part.
- Use artwork or other material without the necessary rights, licenses, permissions, or other lawful basis for that use.
- Create, import, edit, or export cards containing sexual content involving minors or sexualizing minors, including sexual exploitation or sexualized nudity. For these rules, a minor is anyone under 18, including a fictional character depicted as under 18.
- Create, import, edit, or export cards that graphically depict torture or severe abuse of minors, or that promote, glorify, or encourage abuse or exploitation of minors.
Nonsexual, nongraphic depictions of bullying, injury, danger, or difficult experiences involving minors are not prohibited merely because they address those subjects, provided they do not promote, glorify, or encourage abuse or exploitation. Other content must comply with the age restrictions above and applicable law. You are responsible for any card you create, import, edit, export, share, or use with another service, and for complying with that service's rules.
Your card data and third-party resources
The editor saves card data in your browser. Device settings, browser settings, storage limits, clearing site or browser data, replacing data, technical problems, or other problems beyond my control can result in lost work. You are responsible for keeping your own backups. External asset URLs and resources in notes previews may be loaded from other servers; those providers have their own practices. MyChar.Cards and its features, such as the editor, belong to their respective owners. Using MyChar.Cards or any of its features does not transfer ownership of the MyChar.Cards service or its features to you; third-party components remain subject to their applicable licenses.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. I do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or compatible with other software.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Changes and contact
I may change these terms by posting a revised version here with a new date. Unless applicable law requires additional notice or agreement, posting the revised terms here is the only notice provided. Where additional notice or agreement is required, I will provide that notice or obtain that agreement. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms to the extent permitted by law.
